In 2012, I accidentally fell in love with a farmer. I’m not sure if it’s more accurate to call myself an ‘accidental farm wife’ or an ‘unexpected farm wife’. Regardless, both are true.
I grew up in a small town in Wyoming, and fully planned to become a “city girl.” I envisioned a life of high heels, a high-rise apartment, and take-out on every corner. Today, I find myself wearing boots, in a ranch-style home, with take-out over 50 miles away. Most days, I wouldn’t have it any other way. But there are moments where I miss what I thought my life would be. It’s funny how God has a different plan for us, one we might not have planned for ourselves.
Now I’m a farm mom to three and a proud farmer’s wife. We farm and ranch with my husband’s family in Central Montana.
Writing was something I loved as a kid, but tucked it away after college—not making the time for it. If it weren’t for this life, I don’t know if I would have started writing again. And, farm life lends itself to a lot of great stories.
My goal is to find my authentic writing voice, and share more of it here. From stories of our every day farm life, to more heart felt essays about motherhood and marriage—I want this space to feel like home.
